Good news for families: INPS has announced an important change regarding the Baby Bonus, the €1,000 allowance introduced by the 2025 Budget Law. With message no. 2345 of July 24, 2025, the Institute confirmed that the deadline to apply has been extended from 60 to 120 days following the child’s birth, adoption or fostering.
This change gives families more breathing room, especially during the delicate period of welcoming a new child. Moreover, for families with events that took place between January 1 and May 24, 2025, who did not meet the initial 60-day deadline, a grace period has been introduced: applications will be accepted until September 22, 2025.
The Baby Bonus is designed to help cover early childcare costs and is not reserved only for Italian citizens or EU residents. It also applies to non-EU foreign citizens holding a valid residence permit of at least one year. Eligible titles include the long-term residence permit, the single work permit, permits for international protection, asylum or statelessness, as well as permits for research purposes valid for more than six months.
Application procedures and requirements remain unchanged, as already set out in INPS circular no. 76 of April 14, 2025.
