If the SWS survey result last March on Divorce bill showed 50% of Filipinos back home supports the controversial bill, most of the Filipino here also say yes.
Each has his own reason in supporting the bill.
Ruel Llanto , the Secretary/Treasurer of the Batangas Varsitarian said it will be better if the bill will be passed into law so that former couple who separate ways will have better options and good raport will be maintained .
The increasing rate of illegitimate children will be prevented if divorce bill will be implemented Maki Espelata said.
However , there are also those who oppose the bill. They strongy support the catholic churh’s fight against divorce. Most of them are the Sunday church-goers couples.
They said that if divorce will be implemented in the Philippines, it may cause the immorality of the entire country.
The added that it is the Filipino pride that the Philippines is the only country where there is no divorce.
They are also calling on the attention of the bill makers to focus on more important issues that need to be solved than screwing themselves into passing the divorce bill.(By: Zita Baron)
