Milan – The Italian Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Luca Fornari, opened the Philippine Investment Roadshow in Italy at the Milan Chamber of Commerce on 21 June 2011 to promote the Philippines as an investment site. The Roadshow will travel to Padua (22 June), Turin (23 June) and Rome (27 June).
Speakers aside from Ambassador Luca Fornari were Mr. Massimiliano Sponzilli, Director of the Italian International Trade Institute in Singapore and Manila, Mr. Hubert D’Aboville, President of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Mr. Michele Miari Fulcis of the European Section of the Asian Development Bank, and Mr. Massimo di Nola, a journalist of Radiocor Sole 24 Ore, who, together with Ambassador Fornari, was largely instrumental in making the event a reality.
Philippine Consul General to Milan Lourdes Soliman Tabamo expressed, during the opening ceremony, her appreciation to Ambassador Fornari for his invaluable efforts to organize the roadshow which benefits the Philippines. Senior Trade Representative Jose Antonio Buencamino of the Philippine Embassy in Berlin, enlightened the audience about Philippine investment laws and the prevailing business atmosphere.
The speakers gave the audience a bird’s eye view of the investment opportunities in the Philippines. They also mentioned their admiration to PEZA for being a very successful model for encouraging investors, the President’s initiatives for the Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects, and what they consider the countries’ seven big winners: agribusiness, IT/BPO, medical and retirement tourism, creative industries, manufacturing, mining and infrastructure.
The attendees numbered 269, with 149 physically attending the event, and 120 participating through internet streaming.
