MILAN, 8 April – The best of Philippine furniture design is on showcase in the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the world’s largest furniture trade fair which opened today, 8 April 2014 at the Fiera Milano in Milan, Italy.
The Philippine Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) put together a team of Philippine furniture designers who showcased the best of Filipino craftsmanship and ingenuity in furniture design. Curated by famed Filipino designer Budji Layug, select furniture pieces from Bon-Ace Fashion Tools, Inc., Cebu Fil Veneer Corporation, Industria Home, Kish Design Hub, Inc., Lightworks Resources, Inc., P&B Valises et Compagnie, Inc., and Padua International Corp. were on display at the Design Philippines stand. In an adjoining stand, internationally renowned Filipino furniture designer, Kenneth Cobonpue, showcased his own collection.
Undersecretary Jesus Yabes, Philippine Ambassador to Italy H.E.Virgilio Reyes, OUMWA Executive Director Reynaldo Catapang and newly-arrived Consul General to Milan Marichu Mauro visited the Design Philippines stand to show support for CITEM and promote Philippine furniture design. Also in attendance were Vice Consul Helen Sayo and Vice Consul Rosanna Josue.
The Salone Internazionale del Mobile is a furniture fair held annually in Milan. It is the largesttrade fair of its kind in the world. The exhibition showcases the latest in furniture and design from countries around the world. It is considered a leading venue for the display of new products by designers of furniture, lighting and other home furnishings.(PCG-Milan)
