This time the slogan’s similarity to Switzerland’s 1951 tourism slogan (“It’s More Fun in Switzerland”), led to a heated debate on the web.

The website itsmorefuninthephilippines.com was registered on December 29th, 2011. On that day, the hashtag “ItsMoreFunInThePhilippines”became a globally trending topic on Twitter and similar conversations began to surge on the social networking site Facebook, where dozens of fan pages were launched in dedication to the slogan.

As of last weekend, netizens who logged on to www.itsmorefuninthephilippines.com could only see a slideshow.

A brief statemaltent in part reads: “Wherever you go in the Philippines, it’s the Filipinos that will make your holiday unforgettable… Find out for yourself why it’s more fun in the Philippines. And make the most out of your next vacation.”

As of January 17th, 2012, there are over 50 Facebook pages titled “It’s More Fun in the Philippines,” and the official pagehas gained over 13,138 likes.
