The heritage city of Vigan has been shortlisted and is the lone candidate from the Philippines vying for the spot in the New Seven Wonder Cities of the World List.
Rome, August 29, 2014 – Out of 1,200 cities all over the world, Vigan was included in the top 28 shortlisted in the search for New 7 Wonders – Cities. Vigan is the only nominated city from the Philippines. The nominees will be narrowed down to 14 cities in October while the final 7 will be announced in December.
It is the same online search which awarded the Puerto Princesa Underground River a position in the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2012. The inclusion of the Underground River in the list resulted to an increase in tourist arrivals, business opportunities and employment which cemented the Philippines’ reputation as a top global tourist destination.
Every Filipino is encouraged to show their support and solidarity by voting for Vigan in the search for New 7 Wonders – Cities online. It is again an opportunity for Filipinos to show the world how Filipinos unite.
