Rome, Oktubre 16, 2012 – Pangungunahan ni Vice President Jejomar C. Binay ang mga dadalo sa canonization ni Blessed Pedro Calungsod sa Oktubre 21 sa Vatican City sa Rome.
Si bise presidente Binay ang kinatawan ng Pangulong Benigno S. Aquino III, upang personal na saksihan ang pagdedeklara ni Pope Benedict XVI sa ikalawang santong Pilipino.
Kaugnay dito, idineklara rin ng Pangulong Aquino ang Oktubre 21 bilang national day of celebration, Proclamation No. 48.
Ayon sa Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), humigit kumulang sa 1,000 Pinoy ang bibiyahe patungong Vatican upang saksihan ang canonization rites para kay Blessed Calungsod at sa anim na iba pa. Ito ay sisimulan sa isang misa sa Saint Peter’s Squareat prusisyon ng bagong santo sa Chiesa di Santa Pudenziana sa gabi.
Magkakaroon din simula Huwebes, Oct 18 sa Roma ng Triduum of Holy Masses bilang preparasyon sa canonization at Thanksgiving mass kinabukasan Oct 22 sa St. Peter's Basilica.
Makikipagpulong din diumano si Binay, ang Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers’ Concerns, sa Filipino community sa Italy sa Pontifico Collegio Filippino matapos ang canonization.
Bukod dito ay magkakaroon din ng mga pagdiriwang sa Cebu at inaasahan ng Cebu Archdiocese ang pagdalo ng mahigit isang milyon.
