A total of 239 OFWs, out of the estimated 600 Filipinos who came, availed of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), services during the joint POLO and Consular Outreach Services in Napoli last March 5 and 6, 2011. Breakdown for those who availed of POLO Services is as follows: 96 for OWWA new/renewal of membership; 66 Pag ibig new membership; 12 SSS new membership while at least 60 clients reactivated and/or inquired about their SSS membership;5 OFWs availed of the OEC or exit pass and the rest on employment counseling and other information services. Meanwhile, the Consular Team, specifically the Passport Section was able to process and issue 300 passports.
The outreach, which was held at the Istituto Paritario Sta. Giovanna B’Arco, Piazzetta Rosario Porta Divina, Napoli was attended by OFWs and migrants not only from Napoli but also from nearby cities/communities as Salerno and Caserta. The outreach was done in cooperation with the Comunità Filippina di Napoli, Filippino Community of Naples, Italy headed by its President Mr. Jose Yoro.
Due to the influx of OFWs and with the advent of the peak season for availment of Consular/POLO Services, the Consular team had to return the following weekend in order to accommodate those who were not served and were not able to have their passport applications processed.
In addition to passport processing, the Consular team also offered other services as issuance of certification, NBI clearance, Special Power of Attorney, birth certificate, driver’s license and other consular services.
The Consular Team was headed by Consul General Danilo T. Ibayan while the POLO Team was headed by Labor Attaché Chona M. Mantilla with OWWA, SSS, DOLE and Pag-ibig representatives.
