Roma – Nobyembre 7, 2013 – Kinoronahan ang pinakabagong Binibining Pilipinas Italy 2013 na si Maybel Perilla noong nakaraang ika-1 ng Nobyembre, 2013 sa Roma. Naglaban ang sampung kandidata mula sa iba’t ibang panig ng Italya para sa korona ng ika-9 na edisyon na ito ng Binibining Pilipinas Italy na pinangungunahan ng Filipino Artists and Talents Europe (FATE) at ng Balaleng Centro Association.
Mula sa sponsoring association ng Dignidad ng Guardians, ang 18-anyos na dilag ay naluluhang sinabi na hindi niya inaasahan ang kanyang pagkapanalo sa pageant.
“Kung ikaw ay magkakaroon ng pagkakataong magtanggal ng isang salita sa diksyonaryo, ano ito at bakit? – ang final question nang gabing iyon na sinagot ni Maybel – Akin pong tatanggalin ang salitang egoism at papalitan ito ng altruism”.
Maliban sa mga premyo, ang kinoronahang Binibini ay magkakaroon din ng pagkakataong makapagtrabaho sa mundo ng fashion sa Les Artistes Michele Piacentini. Ayon na rin sa FATE consultant na si Dr. Casimero Dulay na, ‘For this event, we the officers of FATE through me as the consultant will file a petition before the Embassy to the Ambassador granting the winner of Binibining Pilipinas (Italy) to be the ambassadress of goodwill for the youth here in Italy so that the meaning of being a crowned will have the significance towards Filipinos. One of her responsibilities will be the role model of this young 2nd or 3rd generation of the migrants youth.’
Sa isang panayam sa over-all director ng pageant na si Armand Curameng tungkol sa tagumpay ng pageant, ‘The success of our pageant is we are very open. Well, we could say that we cannot please everybody pero we are more open it means that we are very much transparent of what is going on. Yung mga judges natin are really very careful on choosing for the winners. Nakikita ng mga tao un na importansya kaya nagtitiwala sila.’
Nang tinanong kung ano ang kinaibahan ng ebentong ito kumpara sa mga nakaraan, ‘This is different from the other editions because aside from the improvements we’re having, this is already noted as one of the most important events in the Filipino communities in Italy. We can see the difference because sa Facebook na lang ay napapansin na ng mga tao and we are having more than 8,000 likes so we are very glad na napapansin na ng mga tao as an important event for all the Filipinos.’
Isa rin sa kanilang ikinagagalak na ibalita ay ang pangako ng sikat na Filipino designer na si Rene Salud na kamakailan lamang ay nasa Roma para sa Fibre Filippina. Ayon kay Armand, ‘This (pageant) is a prelude of a more important event next year which is the 10th year anniversary because Mr. Rene Salud promised us to assist and give opportunities to our winners to participate in the national pageants in the Philippines as long as they will meet the requirements so we have still have to know the requirements.’
Hinirang bilang 1st runner up si Sharmaine Zabala, 2nd runner up Brenda Eve Embes, 3rd runner up Jennifer Mauriello, 4th runner up si Shiela May David at 5th runner up si April Kriselda Beloso.

Guest din ng gabing iyon ang young Filipino actor na si Mark Benedict Manaloto na bida sa Italian film na ‘Se chiudo gli occhi non sono più qui’ na kasama sa finalist sa Rome International Film Festival na gaganapin sa November 8.
Ginanap ang coronation night ng Binibining Pilipinas Italy sa Teatro Vigano kung saan hosts ang tinaguriang Italy’s Filipino Concert King Armand Curameng at ang Binibining Pilipinas Italy 2012 1st runner up Francesca Carrascoso na siya ring nag-turn over ng korona ng gabing iyon.
Ayon kay Maybel matapos ang pageant ay karangalan na ang maging isang contestant “Non me l’aspettavo, per me arrivare in questo concorso è già una vittoria perché non pensavo di riuscire a fare una cosa del genere perché sono molto timida. E quindi ha superato le mie aspettative.”
Ito umano ang unang pagkakataon ni Maybel ang lumahok sa contest at lubos ang kanyang pasasalamat sa magulang at mga kaibigan.
“E’ la mia prima volta di partecipare. Ringrazio i miei genitori che sono stati molto vicini e mi hanno preparato bene, i miei amici che mi hanno prestato tutte le cose utili che mi servivano per questo evento. Non ho fatto tutto questo da sola, per questo la vittoria è anche per loro.”
At ngayon na sya ay isang title holder na, isang mensahe ang kanyang iniiwan sa mga kabataang tulad niya: “Voglio dire a loro di essere se stesse, spontanee e semplici. Spero che altre ragazze saranno fortunate come me e spero di essere stata (e sarò ancora in futuro), un buon esempio per loro”, pagtatapos pa ng dalaga.
