Milan, January 7, 2015 – The Philippine Consulate General in Milan led the Filipino community in Milan, Italy in commemorating the 118th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal in cooperation with the Order of the Knights of Rizal Modena Chapter, Kababaihang Rizalista Inc. Modena (KRI) and with the participation of the Order of the Knights of Rizal Firenze Chapter (OKOR), Italy Chapter.
Consul General Marichu Mauro led Filipino community and the Consulate Staff in a simple wreath-laying ceremony at the bust of Dr. Jose Rizal in the Phl Consulate General, Milan.
In her message at the ceremony, Consul General Marichu Mauro acknowledged the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal and the importance of learning our values in this generation in keeping the memory of Rizal alive among the youth of the Filipino community.
The aforementioned commemoration ceremony were joined by OKOR Area Commander for Italy, Carlos Simbillo, OKOR Modena Chapter Commander Sir Gerry Adarlo and Kababaihang Rizalista Inc. President Lady Winefreda Crisostomo with members Sir Amante Arasula, Sir Noriel Bantugon, Lady Lizel Ferrer and Sir Leandro Pinon from KOR Florence, Italy Chapter.
The ceremony was organized by the Consulate General of the Philippines Milan, KRI Modena Chapter and the Order of the Knights of Rizal Modena Chapter. OKOR Area Commander for Italy, Carlos Simbillo in a short message thanked the Filipino community, Consul General Mauro and the Consulate staff for joining the worldwide celebration in remembering the martyrdom of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
