MILAN, April 23, 2014 – The Philippine Consulate in Milan, led by the new Consul General Marichu Mauro, held successive one-day mobile consular services in Rimini and Bologna, on 12 and 13 April respectively. A total of 352 services, including passport renewals, notarials and civil registry, were rendered from both consular missions. Attached agencies from Milan such as OWWA, SSS and Pag-Ibig were also present to deliver their services.
At the sidelines of the consular activity, Consul General Mauro had the opportunity to meet with the leaders from the various Filipino associations in the Emilia Romagna region. Important issues were discussed on how cooperation between the Philippine Consulate and the Filipino associations may be strengthened. Future projects and activities were also planned in order to address the needs of growing Filipino population. Milan PCG emphasized the importance of unity among the various associations and how this can better promote the welfare of the community in the area.
The Consul General also encouraged the community leaders to come up with innovative ways of initiating and supporting projects and activities for the benefit of the Filipinos not only in Emilia Romagna but in the entire Italy.
Rimini and Bologna are provinces of the Emilia Romagna located about 4 hours away from Milan by car.
The consular service is the first outreach mission for the year as part of the Consulate’s commitment to extend services to more Filipinos and foster cooperation with the community. (PCG – Milan)
