The newly renovated Consular section of the Philippine Embassy in Rome was inaugurated last 29 February 2012. The inauguration ceremony was led by H.E. Ambassador Virgilio A. Reyes, Jr. and Mrs. Ma. Felisa L. Reyes and attended by special guests, including Minister Massimo Roscigno, Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hon. Gilberto Casciani of Regione Lazio, as well as Embassy partner institutions and Filcom organizations.
In his message, Ambassador Reyes highlighted that the renovation of the Consular section is a testament not only to the Embassy’s commitment for efficiency in providing public service, but is also a manifestation that the Embassy values the welfare of the Filipino community. He underscored that the Embassy shall continue to initiate and support all initiatives that aim to empower the OFWs in Italy may it be through Italian language learning, financial literacy, investment options and other skills-enhancement.
As part of its public diplomacy programme, the Philippine Embassy also presented a preview of its upcoming project, an infomercial that will provide important information in applying for e-passport and other services provided by the Embassy. This infomercial will be shown during office hours at the public area of the Consular section. (Philippine Embassy Rome)
