As in previous years, to ensure a meaningful celebration, PIDA is organizing the MISA PARA SA BAYAN on 3 June at the Basilica di Santa Pudenziana and the KALAYAAN 2012 on 10 June at Piazza Ankara.

For the main celebration on 10 June, PIDA is featuring local talents to highlight the rich Philippine culture and stir the national pride of the Filipino migrant community in Rome.  The Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) will also bring in performers from the Philippines, namely Allan K., Jessa Zaragoza and Alex Calleja, to provide entertainment to the numerous OFWs in Italy.  Round trip airline tickets Rome-Manila-Rome will also be given away during the raffle draw.  Through the continued support of OSN and PIDA’s major sponsor Western Union, as well as its other sponsors, this annual event shall remain free of charge and open to the general public.

Another important event this year is the commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of the Establishment of Philippines-Italian Bilateral Relations.  PIDA is recognizing outstanding Italian nationals who have extended their assistance to and uplifted the welfare of the Filipino community in Rome.
