In his audience with the Italian President, H.E. President Napolitano started the conversation by expressing his gratitude to the substantial presence of Filipinos in the country who are law-abiding and contribute positively to the Italian society.  In response, the Ambassador thanked the President for this recognition and expressed hope that further cooperation with the Italian government could be undertaken to facilitate the entry of Filipino professional workers into the mainstream Italian labour market.

The Ambassador further stressed the need to reinvigorate economic and cultural relations, as well as exchanges in defence cooperation, citing specifically the celebration of the 65th Anniversary of PH-Italy Diplomatic Relations in 2012 as an opportune time to further strengthen bilateral relations.

An “aperitivo” (Italian pre-dinner cocktails) held at the Official Residence followed the presentation, attended by all Embassy personnel, including attached agencies. (Philippine Embassy-Rome)
