Rome, May 21, 2012 – The youngest among eight siblings, born on September 18,1969, from Agapito Dordas Sr. and Pacita Daniel Dordas of Maayon, Capiz, Efren grew up at the center of everyone’s attention. As a young lad, he used to help his mother with her hobby and source of income doing corsages to sell during graduations.
This initiated his passion for flowers. He finished his BS Nursing degree at St. Anthony College of Roxas City, through the help of his elder siblings. This made him pursuant to his goal of repaying them back by searching a job abroad. His search did not take long because soon after he graduated, he found himself on his way to Italy where, not only did he find a good job and pursue his dream but also a family of his own.
In Italy, his determination and hard work landed him to all kinds of jobs which he did without complain. It was while he worked as a barman-waiter in a hotel that his growing passion for flowers developed. He volunteered once in a while to do the flower arrangements for the said hotel to the amazement of the owners.
His break came when one warm August day, a bride all the way from Ireland, was desperately looking for a florist for her bridal bouquet as most shops in Italy take the month of August for their summer vacation. He gladly took the challenge and did the bouquet to everyone’s surprise! The hotel receptionist’s timely wedding the following month became his next wedding event.
Soon after, he pursued his dream of opening his own flower shop leaving his job and the rest came accordingly. His recently inaugurated Dordas Flowers shop found at Largo del Teatro Valle 5, at the ground floor of the historical Palazzo Capranica del Grillo in the heart of Rome, his second after his seven-year old shop at Via Monterone 11, caters to several surrounding hotels’ weekly flower supplies, as well as wedding and other occasions’ decoration demands and satisfies its continuous walk-in clientele with its innovative and one-of-a kind style in flower arrangement.
